The Belfast Giants are pleased to announce the signing of Logan Cockerill for the 2026/27 season.
From Brighton, Michigan, the 27-year-old forward arrives in Belfast following three years with the ECHL’s Jacksonville Icemen, during which he contributed 96 total points in 143 appearances. The upcoming campaign will mark Cockerill’s second in Europe, having recorded 15 total points for Swedish side BK Karlskoga during his debut professional season.
Adam Keefe, Head Coach of the Belfast Giants, said: “Logan’s a really exciting signing for us. One thing that stood out when he was in Belfast for the Friendship Four was the speed he brings to games, and that’s definitely something that he will bring in spades next season. He’s had three very impressive seasons in the ECHL, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do in the Elite League. Logan brings young energy and does whatever it takes to win, so I don’t doubt he’ll be a great acquisition for us.”
Before turning professional ahead of the 2022/23 season, Cockerill played five seasons of NCAA hockey at Boston University between 2017 and 2022, serving as an alternate captain in his junior year and then captaining the Terriers in his final two seasons. Throughout his college career, Cockerill notched 57 total points in 134 games and was selected for international honours, representing the USA at the 2019 World Junior Championships. Cockerill was also part of the Terriers team that finished runner-up in the 2018 Friendship Four in Belfast.

I had such a great experience in Belfast playing in the Friendship Four in college and can’t wait to return this upcoming season.
