“I pledge to…” – Translink unveils public climate change pledge initiative

Commuters at Lanyon Place station Rose (aged 7) and mum Caroline were stopped in their tracks, as Translink unveiled its special climate pledge video installation as the United Nations COP26 Global Climate Conference in Glasgow gets underway this week. Over 100 individual and collective climate change pledges were captured from members of the public as well as schools, community and business organisations and are now on display.

The multi-media initiative is part of Translink’s #LetsChangeTogether campaign, designed to reflect the collective voice of Northern Ireland on positive climate change action and place it firmly on the global stage offered by COP26 to demonstrate the commitment from the region to play its part.

Translink is leading the transport transformation in Northern Ireland to decarbonise public transport as part of a wider Climate Positive Strategy. Ambitious targets have been set to have net zero emissions across Northern Ireland’s buses, trains, and buildings by 2040 ahead of government targets and then becoming Climate Positive by 2050. Translink want to want to work with all stakeholders to accelerate action and build back better for a more sustainable future, this pledge wall showcases the many ways everyone can play a part to unlock inclusive, greener growth for the generations to come.

Translink has secured a place at the prestigious COP26 summit, joining a selected group of specially- invited businesses, academia, youth and civil society groups, schools and people from across the world, to showcase their actions and contribute to the essential conversations on tackling the climate emergency.
